It is not recommended to treat a stuck tick with oil, as this may cause the insect to release saliva into the host's body. Gennady Pogrebnyak, a therapist and head of the Kalinin Veterinary Clinic, told about this on Tuesday, April 28, at a press conference "Beware of ticks! Urban myths and real threats".

"And even if the tick has stuck on, but there was no salivation into the host's body at that moment, then applying oil, applying some aggressive drugs, alcohols, on the contrary, can cause such a reaction in the tick as salivation," the Moscow City News agency quotes the expert.

In turn, Svetlana Shemyakova, Head of the Department of Parasitology and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise of the Scriabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, noted that it is better to use a tick-twister to remove the tick on her own.

Rospotrebnadzor will conduct an All-Russian hotline for the prevention of tick-borne viral encephalitis and other tick-borne infections. It will be open from April 27 to May 10, according to 360.ru .

In turn, Olga Trofimova, an associate professor at the State University of Education, reported on April 22 that cases of tick-borne encephalitis infection had not been recorded in Moscow, and there were no natural foci of this disease in the region.

Earlier, on April 14, it was reported that in Russia, since the beginning of the season, more than 6 thousand people have sought medical help in connection with tick bites. These are the data from Rospotrebnadzor. The largest number of bites was registered in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, in the Crimea, in the Rostov, Lipetsk, Chelyabinsk, Leningrad, Moscow, Kostroma, Voronezh, Samara and Omsk regions, as well as in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
