Reshetnikov stated the need for migrants for the development of the Russian economy
Economic growth in Russia will be difficult to achieve without migration and the involvement of additional personnel. This was announced on April 28 by Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, at the session "The Russian Economy in 10 years" of the Alpha Summit forum.
"It will probably be difficult for us to achieve economic growth without migration, so we need reasonable and profitable migration in limited volumes," he said.
Reshetnikov called building a competent system for attracting and retaining the necessary personnel in the country a big challenge. He stressed that the problems will have to be solved in the aggravated competitive conditions. The minister also noted that China's working-age population is declining, and the Arab world is constantly "absorbing" workers from other countries.
According to Reshetnikov, building a system to attract and retain the necessary personnel is a big challenge for the state.
On March 25, Prashant Pease, Head of the Department of Migration Policy and Social Security at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that his country was ready to continue sending migrant workers to Russia. According to him, among his compatriots there will be qualified personnel among all those industries in which the Russian side may potentially be interested.
Boris Titov, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for Relations with international organizations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, said on December 22, 2025 that cooperation with India could solve the problem of the shortage of migrant workers in Russia. According to him, there is a growing interest among domestic enterprises in migrants from this South Asian country.
