- The FSB told about the falsified accusation of Moldova against the wife of the Russian military
The wife of a Russian military man, who was returned as part of the exchange, was detained by Moldova on falsified charges. This was reported on April 28 by the FSB of Russia.
"The wife of a Russian serviceman was detained by employees of the Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova on July 3, 2025 at the Chisinau airport," an FSB operative said.
It is noted that the wife of a Russian military man serving in Transnistria flew to Chisinau, hoping to meet her husband. However, the Moldovan authorities detained her in a falsified case of bribing an employee of the border service.
A Moldovan court sentenced her to 1 year in prison, as well as a fine of 2,000 lei (approximately $12,000) to Moldova. In March, another criminal case was opened against a Russian citizen under the article on espionage.
During an exchange on April 28 with the participation of Russian archaeologist Alexander Butyagin and the wife of a Russian serviceman on the Belarusian-Polish border, Russia extradited Moldovan intelligence officers. Moldovan officers arrived in Russia in 2025 to conduct intelligence operations. The detained intelligence officers tried to hide their involvement in a foreign intelligence service, but investigators gathered irrefutable evidence of their connections.
On the same day, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation showed footage of Moldovan intelligence agents. The published footage shows that two young men are being led to an official car with the participation of department employees. The ministry noted that as part of the investigation of the criminal case, it was possible to collect information proving their full affiliation to the intelligence service of the Republic of Moldova.
