Fire in Moscow: seven people died at a construction site

Fire in the north of Moscow: what is known

On Tuesday, April 28, a fire broke out on the second and third floors of a building in the north of the capital. The fire engulfed a building at the intersection of 2nd Ambulatory Passage and 3rd Baltiyskiy Lane. The fire spread quickly and affected almost all floors of the building.

It was reported that the fire area was 1.4 thousand square meters. m. It was assigned the highest level of complexity. 200 people and 65 pieces of equipment were involved in the work.

Later, it also became known that a helicopter from the Moscow Aviation Center and a fire train were connected to eliminate the gorenje. It contains 4 tons of water and 122 tons of foaming agent. As reported by the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate, due to the fire, traffic was blocked from the 2nd Ambulatory Passage to Chasovaya Street.

The reason for the incident, according to some reports, could be a violation of safety regulations during work.

At the moment, the fire has already been extinguished, but firefighters continued to work at the site. They are dismantling the burnt-out structures and checking all the rooms of the building.

One of the workers, in an interview with TASS, noted that the fire spread quickly, the smoke could cut off workers from the exits. He also added that he quickly heard the sirens of the firefighters.

Victims of a fire in the north of Moscow

With the help of rescue devices, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, 31 people were rescued by firefighters. It was also reported that 3 people went to the doctors before the arrival of fire and rescue units.

According to the latest data, 7 people became victims of the tragedy, 12 more people were injured.

According to the Moscow Department of Health, doctors immediately arrived at the scene of the fire to help the injured.

"Doctors from the Disaster Medicine and Ambulance Center immediately arrived at the scene. In difficult conditions of fire and bad weather, the medical services worked in a clear and organized manner. Professionalism, self—control and willingness to act in any situation allow doctors to save lives on a daily basis," the Telegram channel of the capital's Depzdrav reports.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin responded to the incident, expressing his deep condolences to the families of the victims.

"Today, a fire broke out in the city at one of the private construction sites in the Airport area, which killed, according to preliminary data, seven people. My deep condolences to the families of the victims. <...> All necessary assistance is being provided to the victims," he wrote on his channel in Maks, adding that city services and doctors are working on the spot.

The criminal case

After the incident, the Investigative Committee (IC) opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("violation of safety rules during construction or other work that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons"). This is stated in the Telegram channel of the metropolitan Investigative Committee.

They also added that investigators and criminologists are working at the scene. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Later it also became known that the Moscow Prosecutor's office had organized an inspection in connection with the fire.

"During the audit, an assessment will be given of the fulfillment of the requirements of federal legislation on fire safety, based on the results, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken," the supervisory authority's Telegram channel says.

The investigation of the criminal case has been monitored by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.
