On Tuesday, April 28, a fire broke out on the second and third floors of a building in the north of the capital. The fire engulfed a building at the intersection of 2nd Ambulatory Passage and 3rd Baltiyskiy Lane. The fire spread quickly and affected almost all floors of the building.

"Today, a fire broke out in the city at one of the private construction sites in the Airport area, which killed, according to preliminary data, seven people. My deep condolences to the families of the victims. <...> All necessary assistance is being provided to the victims," he wrote on his channel in Maks, adding that city services and doctors are working on the spot.
The criminal case
After the incident, the Investigative Committee (IC) opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("violation of safety rules during construction or other work that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons"). This is stated in the Telegram channel of the metropolitan Investigative Committee.
They also added that investigators and criminologists are working at the scene. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
Later it also became known that the Moscow Prosecutor's office had organized an inspection in connection with the fire.
"During the audit, an assessment will be given of the fulfillment of the requirements of federal legislation on fire safety, based on the results, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken," the supervisory authority's Telegram channel says.
The investigation of the criminal case has been monitored by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.
