The Broadway Moscow Theater Company presented the first musical sequel in Russia.

The presentation of the new play "The Ghost of the Musical", created by Dmitry Bogachev's Broadway Moscow Theater company in collaboration with Ticketland and Yandex Afisha, took place at the Theater on Tsvetnoy. The production will be a continuation of "Mamma By!", which has been running for more than two years at the Mask Theater in the Moscow Youth Palace.

The premiere of the comedy sequel "The Ghost of the Musical" will take place on August 6 at the new metropolitan Theater on Tsvetnoy, which will become the third permanent venue of Broadway Moscow: its stage will be specially reconstructed for the new musical, after which the auditorium will be able to accommodate more than 740 spectators.

"The Ghost of the Musical" is a theatrical adventure based on two dozen cult hits from world musicals that are well known through film adaptations and Russian productions: "Moulin Rouge!", "The Producers", "Chicago", "Cabaret", "Cats", "Zorro", "Vampire Ball", "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", "Chess" and "Don't be afraid, I'm with you".

The guests of the presentation were greeted by the heroes of the Les Miserables amateur theater at the House of Culture of the Worsted and Cloth factory in the fictional town of Semiozersk: director of the Recreation center Leva, chief director Vova, prima donna Nastya, hero-lover Kirill, actor Gena, debutant Maxim and aspiring actress, popular blogger Yulia Positivnaya.

During the press conference, Les Miserables was joined by Anna Shevchuk, the director of The Ghost of the Musical, and Sergey Plotov, the author of the play and lyrics.

"In Mamma By!, our characters staged the musical Mamma Mia! in their own way, and for me it was symbolic, because I myself worked on the Russian version of this project as a director-tutor," said Anna Shevchuk. — At The Ghost of the Musical, we turn to several world musicals at once, most of which I also worked on, so I well understand the challenges faced by the Les Miserables theater. But the main thing is that it was incredibly fun for us to create this performance, and I hope that this energy will be transmitted to the audience."

"It was my first time working on a musical sequel, and it was important for me to keep the hurricane humor that made the audience love "Mamma By!“as well as the feeling that you can get out of any, even the most difficult situation with dignity and excitement. I think we even managed to surpass the original in this sense. Trying to repeat success is always risky, but that's no reason not to try. I hope the audience will enjoy the new adventures of Les Miserables," said Sergey Plotov.

The creative team of the new musical also includes the best professionals of the Russian musical theater — production designer Maxim Obrezkov, choreographer Irina Kashuba, musical supervisor and arranger Artur Baido, musical director Mariam Barskaya, lighting designer Alexander Sivaev, costume designer Anastasia Fedorova and videographer Asya Mukhina.
