French climbers have broken the record for the fastest ascent of Mont Blanc
French climbers Mateo Jacmoud and Samuel Equi have set a new record for climbing Mont Blanc. This was reported by the newspaper Le Monde on April 26.
"Jacmoud and his teammate Samuel Equi set a new record for back-and-forth skiing between Chamonix and the summit of Mont Blanc (4,806 m) with a time of 4 hours, 41 minutes and 24 seconds. They improved the record by two minutes," the publication says.
The climbers set off at about 7:00 (8:00 Moscow time) from the church square in Chamonix. They reached the top in about 3 hours and 41 minutes, and the descent took about an hour. It usually takes two days for experienced climbers to make such an ascent.
This is not the first record of Jacmud this season. Earlier, together with Italian William Boffelli, he broke the record on the section between Chamonix and Zermatt (100 km) in 13 hours and 27 minutes. Equi called it a special joy that the record was set together.
American rock climber Alex Honnold climbed the Taipei 101 skyscraper with a height of more than 500 m in Taiwan without insurance. The climb took the climber about two hours. As he progressed, eyewitnesses supported Honnold, including from the observation deck on the 89th floor of the building.
