Over the past day, 245 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 16 people were killed and 268 injured. 14 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 28 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, in the Moscow suburb of Elektrogorsk, at night, a 17-year-old car driver lost control of the vehicle and, having left the road, crashed into a tree. The young man died. He had not previously been issued a driver's license.

20 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 28 road users required medical assistance. 13 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 79 accidents, 36 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 43 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 80 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 13 underage pedestrians, nine of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas. There were also 27 accidents involving minors, in which 29 young road users were injured, including five passengers, 10 drivers, three of whom were driving motorcycles. There are no dead children under the age of 16.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens who have not been trained in driving schools and have not received the right to drive vehicles in accordance with the established procedure, or have been deprived of them, to refrain from trying to get behind the wheel and drive onto public roads. By reckless actions, they endanger not only their personal lives and health, but also the lives and health of other road users, including their passengers.

Motorists were advised to strictly observe traffic regulations and driving discipline, correctly assess the vehicle's dimensions and speed, weather conditions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding. Compliance with driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the cabin, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements, the department noted.

"In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate urges parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate right and driving skills. Remember that lack of control over teenagers' behavior and leisure activities, especially in the evening, can often lead to injury or even death on the roads. We draw the attention of parents to the administrative responsibility in the amount of 30 thousand rubles for providing children with the opportunity to drive cars and motor vehicles," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Interior Ministry confirmed that the law does not prohibit the use of magnetic fasteners for fixing state registration plates on cars. The ministry's position has been repeated to the regions, said Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
