The Western venues that were previously used for interstate negotiations have ceased to be significant, they have been replaced by new venues for meetings of this level. This was announced on April 27 by former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria Karin Kneissl, who now lives in Russia.

"Today (April 27. St. Petersburg has become the next stop after Islamabad and Muscat in the current shuttle diplomacy of the Iranian government. Interesting. When I was younger, it would have been New York, Paris, Geneva. Times are changing, and so are directions," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

Accordingly, Kneissl commented on the location chosen for the reception of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, who arrived in Russia on an official visit, during which he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The former head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the escalation in the Middle East, wished humanity "more reason and less madness created by the West," and also wondered where one could find truly knowledgeable and intelligent people to negotiate a settlement of the war in Iran. She also noted that there are "more candidates described to the east than to the west of Suez."

On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the participants of the II International Open Dialogue Forum, also pointed to the loss of the West's leading positions in the world, which is taking place in favor of the countries of the Global South. According to him, a multipolar architecture of global development is currently being formed, and countries that recognize the importance of national sovereignty play an important role in this process.

Summing up the positive talks held in St. Petersburg, Araqchi thanked the Russian side for its support of diplomacy and its solidarity. His colleague from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, in turn, described the meeting as useful.
