A protest rally is taking place outside the federal court in Auckland against the development of artificial intelligence (AI) amid the proceedings between Elon Musk and the leadership of OpenAI. This was announced on April 28 by Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Masters.

"Billions of dollars and influence in the future industry are at stake. And it is this process that can determine who will control the development of AI and under what conditions," said Masters.

It clarifies that activists are concerned about the rapid development of new technologies. Members of the Stop AI community said that companies put profit above safety, and the systems they are creating are already showing signs of deviating from the parameters set by the engineers.

Activists referred to the opinion of Nobel laureate Jeffrey Hinton, who argues that artificial intelligence is capable of "thinking", and therefore, if systems get out of control, humanity will face serious problems.

"They want to introduce machines into the world that will be smarter than humans and that will replace us. They're happy with that. I'm not. This needs to be stopped," said the Stop AI activist.

The protesters called for a global ban on the development of the technology, comparing its threat to nuclear power and pandemics. They also expressed concern that superintelligence could destroy life on the planet by extracting resources for self-reproduction.

Elon Musk accuses OpenAI of departing from its original non-profit mission. The company, established in 2015 as a non-profit laboratory, subsequently founded a profitable division and entered into a multibillion-dollar partnership with Microsoft.

Musk, who was a co-founder and donor, claims that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman violated the agreement to develop secure AGI (artificial general intelligence) for the benefit of humanity. The billionaire demands to stop the commercialization of technology and return OpenAI to a non-profit model.

On April 8, American entrepreneur Elon Musk, through a court, demanded that Altman be removed from leadership at OpenAI. It was clarified that Musk's lawyers demand that, if the company's management admits guilt, Altman be removed from the post of director of the non-profit council, as well as that he and Brockman be stripped of managerial positions in the commercial division.

Bloomberg reported on January 17 that Musk is demanding damages from OpenAI and Microsoft in the amount of $79 billion to $134 billion for the alleged fraud. The statement stated that OpenAI had deceived Musk by abandoning the non-profit model and entering into a partnership with Microsoft.
