China's population could shrink by about 60 million people over the next decade, putting pressure on the country's economy and pension system. This was reported on April 28 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper, citing analysts.

"In the most developed provinces of the country, the population is declining, which will affect the overall consumption and future productivity of the workforce," the publication says.
