The Russian Ministry of Defense has developed bread with a two-year shelf life
The Russian Ministry of Defense, together with specialists from the Space nutrition department, have developed bread that can be stored for two years. This was announced on April 27 by Andrey Vedernikov, Head of the Space Nutrition Department at the Research Institute of Food Processing Industry and Special Food Technology.
"We have now developed bread with the Ministry of Defense, whose shelf life is two years," he said, according to TASS.
Vedernikov explained that bread created for astronauts back in the 1960s and 1970s was used as a basis.
On March 31, it became known that on April 1, for the first time since 1986, a new GOST for white bread came into force. In addition to clear requirements for product quality, it sets recommendations for shelf life. In total, five new GOST standards have been introduced. The new standards will apply to manicures, potato chips, dog playgrounds, and asphalt roads.
