- The media reported on the filing of a lawsuit by Slovakia against the EU ban on the import of Russian gas
Slovakia has filed a lawsuit against the decision of the European Union (EU) to stop importing Russian gas. This was reported on April 27 by the newspaper Denik N.
"Slovakia last week filed a previously announced lawsuit against the decision of the European Union to gradually stop importing Russian gas to the bloc," the publication says.
It is noted that according to the regulations, LNG imports from the Russian Federation will cease no later than January 1, 2027, and pipeline gas no later than November 1, 2027. Slovakia has a contract with Russia for gas supplies until 2034. Now the raw materials are supplied through Turkey and other countries, the newspaper said.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on April 22 that the republic would not support a new package of sanctions against Russia until the Druzhba oil pipeline was reopened. According to him, trust has been violated between Slovakia and Ukraine.
Fico also intends to hold a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in May during his visit to the Victory Day Parade in Moscow. It is expected that the leaders of the countries will discuss oil and gas supplies at the meeting.
