Last fall, the penetration of loans into the sale of new passenger cars in Russia began to decline, but in February 2026, this indicator began to grow. This was announced on April 27 by the analytical agency Autostat in its Telegram channel.

Last year, the penetration of car loans into the sale of new cars was 47.3% in January, increased to 59.1% by March, then decreased to 50.5% by April. By June, the indicator increased to 65.9%, then after a short period of decline it increased again and reached an annual peak of 66.7%. In other words, two of the three cars were credit cars.

After that, the share of credit cars began to decline and dropped to 46.2% by December. At the same time, the average annual figure was 55.7%. Having fallen to 43.1% in January 2026, the share of loans began to grow: in February it increased to 52.9%, and in March — to 62.5%.

The average share of credit vehicles in the first quarter of 2026 was 53.7%. Thus, as in the previous year, over half of new passenger cars in Russia are still sold on credit, analysts said.

Earlier, on April 23, it was reported that in March of this year, the average amount of car loans issued amounted to 1.49 million rubles. Compared to the first month of spring last year, this figure increased by 22.3%.
