Moshelovka warned about a fraud scheme involving the reverse transfer of funds
The scammers began transferring money to the cards of Russians, and then asking for a refund through messengers. Fulfilling such a request may lead to the blocking of bank cards and accounts. Galaktion Kuchava, an expert of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front, told about this on April 27.
"This is a trap, the purpose of which is to make a good citizen a "drop", that is, an accomplice to a crime," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the expert, the attackers use a "reverse transfer" scheme. They send money to a person's card, and then ask them to return it to a specific account. Kuchava explained that such a request could involve the victim in a chain of cashing out stolen funds.
He noted that the money received from a stranger could almost certainly have been stolen from a third party. If a person transfers them further on their own, their banking details may end up in the Central Bank's database of fraudulent transactions.
It is specified that after the data is entered into such a database, cards and accounts can be blocked in all banks in the country. According to him, the money does not disappear, but access to it can only be obtained by personally contacting a bank branch with a passport.
The expert stressed that when an unknown transfer is received, you cannot send money yourself at the request of a stranger. In such a situation, it is necessary to contact your bank by the official number, inform about the uncoordinated receipt of funds and ask for an official refund of the payment using the sender's details.
On April 25, Moshelovka reported that fraudsters were pasting fake QR codes on top of the real ones, after scanning which the user goes to a phishing site. The message clarified that it is necessary to check the availability of only the original QR code before scanning, not to enter banking information that is requested on a dubious website, and also to use only original applications for renting electric scooters.
