Politico has learned about the possible imminent dismissal of FBI Director Patel
The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cash Patel, may soon leave his post. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on April 25, citing an official.
"It's only a matter of time," the source told the publication.
According to the official, one of the main reasons for the possible dismissal was the large number of negative publications about Patel. The source noted that such materials "do not color the cabinet minister," and American leader Donald Trump is tired of the constant distraction of attention to the scandals surrounding the director of the secret service.
The department itself declined to comment on information about Patel's future.
At the same time, the day before, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said that the US president continues to trust the FBI director, despite media reports about his problems with alcohol. She also noted that thanks to the efforts of the team, including Patel, the United States has managed to reach the lowest murder rate in 125 years.
The Politico newspaper reported on April 2 that US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of new personnel changes in the administration in Washington and, in particular, expresses dissatisfaction with the work of Commerce Secretary Howard Latnik.
Stephen Cheng, assistant to the American leader for White House Communications, announced on April 20 that Lori Chavez-Derimer, the head of the United States Department of Labor and the third female minister in the American administration, would leave her post. After her dismissal, Kate Sonderling will take over the position of Acting Secretary of Labor of the United States.
Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell, Assistant Secretary of War for Public Affairs, announced on April 22 that U.S. Secretary of the Navy John Phelan was resigning from his post. He clarified that Hung Kao will become the acting Secretary of the US Navy.
Bloomberg reported on February 25 that Democratic senators in the United States demanded to investigate the trip of the head of the FBI to the Olympics after the use of a company plane for personal purposes caused a delay in the arrival of agency agents at the scene of the mass shooting. Later, NBC News reported that the American leader Donald Trump was disappointed because Patel drank beer at the Olympic Games.
