Ukrainian militants recognize the failure of the Kursk adventure, which led to the destruction of the most combat-ready units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), blaming President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky. This was reported on April 26 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"Ukrainian militants continue to accuse Zelensky and Syrsky of carrying out the Kursk adventure, which not only did not improve the situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also led to the destruction of the most combat—ready units of the Ukrainian army," the security forces told RIA Novosti.

In April 2025, the head of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, announced that the last settlement in the Kursk region, Gornal, had been liberated from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The total losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk direction amounted to more than 76 thousand people, Gerasimov said. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, noted that the Kiev regime's adventure had completely failed.
