The Federation Council proposed to revive Lenin rooms in schools and organizations
Lenin rooms, analogues of leisure facilities in the USSR, should be returned to schools and other organizations. This was announced on April 26 by Airat Gibatdinov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Science and Education.
"In my opinion, it is worth returning to the practice of creating Lenin rooms in schools, enterprises and organizations in an updated and modern format," he said in an interview with TASS.
The Lenin Rooms were special rooms in schools, military units, and organizations designed for political education and collective leisure.
The senator noted that such rooms served an important function, they acted as points of attraction and combined education, leisure and upbringing. He noted that such rooms have been preserved in an updated format in military units and called this fact significant. They continue to perform a key function of forming values and supporting morale, Gibatdinov added.
In addition, he added that against the background of current attempts to rewrite history and displace Russian culture, such formats are becoming in demand. The senator stressed that if the state does not deal with historical memory, then others will do it, but in their own interests.
Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and chairman of the Russian Historical Society, said on April 24 that the annual international historical and educational campaign "Dictation of Victory" is not only a new part of the culture of celebrating May 9, but also helps to protect the historical truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
