Remote scammers began using sophisticated schemes to deceive Russians under the pretext of online conversations between housemates on the topic of landscaping. This was confirmed on April 26 by the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to TASS, scammers send a person an invitation to join the residents' online chat and ask them to vote for the arrangement of the common area. To account for the voice, the "administrator" of the community convinces the victim to forward the "digital identifier" that comes in an SMS message. After sending the four-digit code, the user receives a new notification that mimics the message from the Gosuslugi portal. It talks about multiple attempts to log into your personal account and the need to urgently contact technical support.

Further, the scheme can develop according to two scenarios. In the first case, the person calls the specified number himself, counting on the help of the "technical service". In the second case, the scammers themselves get in touch, posing as law enforcement officers. They claim that a power of attorney for the disposal of the victim's savings account, issued in the name of the terrorist, was allegedly found in the database of documents.

According to the Interior Ministry, after that, a false security official suggests a way to "save" funds. It consists in the fact that a person needs to transfer all savings to a "special account". A misled citizen follows the instructions of criminals, makes a transfer, and as a result loses his money.

Earlier, on April 25, it was reported that scammers paste fake QR codes on top of the real ones, after scanning which the user goes to a phishing site. The scammers' target audience is mainly users who regularly rent such scooters, as well as young people and tourists.
