- The NYT reported on the possibility of the United States refusing to issue a green card due to criticism of Israel
The US authorities may refuse to issue a green card to individuals who have criticized Israel or supported Palestine. This was reported on April 25 by The New York Times (NYT), citing training materials from the US Department of Homeland Security.
"According to the new instructions of the administration of [US President Donald] According to Trump, immigrants may now be denied a green card for expressing political views, such as participating in pro-Palestinian protests on campuses, posting criticism of Israel on social media, and desecrating the American flag.
It is clarified that the materials were distributed last month to employees of the US Immigration Service (CIS), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. The Agency reviews applications for green cards and other types of legal status.
On April 24, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik announced that only one foreign citizen was able to obtain citizenship under Trump's special program, according to which $1 million should be invested in the interests of the country. The minister clarified that at the moment, several hundred more applicants for an American passport are undergoing the necessary checks and procedures.
