Mehdikhanov won silver at the European Wrestling Championships in Tirana
Russian freestyle wrestler Musa Mehdikhanov became the silver medalist of the European Championship, which was held in Tirana (Albania) on April 25.
In the final bout in the weight category up to 57 kg, he lost to the representative of Azerbaijan Islam Bazarganov. The third places were taken by Aryan Tyutrin from Belarus and Manvel Khndzrtsian from Armenia.
For 26-year-old Mehdikhanov, this award was the first at the European Championships. The competition in the capital of Albania will last until April 26. Russian athletes compete under the banner of the United World of Wrestling (UWW).
Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Sargsyan won a bronze medal at the European Championships on Wednesday, April 22. In the fight for the third place in the weight category up to 97 kg, Sargsyan defeated the representative of Belarus Kirill Maskevich.
