Drapkina called arterial hypertension a common disease in the Russian Federation
Arterial hypertension is widespread in Russia, and patients with this diagnosis are subject to mandatory follow-up. This was announced on April 25 by Oksana Drapkina, the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health for therapy and general medical practice.
"After the medical examination, when we detect an elevated blood pressure level, we do not regard it as a risk factor, but consider it as a disease. Therefore, the patient immediately belongs to the third health group, which is subject to medical supervision," RIA Novosti quotes Drapkina as saying.
She noted that hypertension is effectively treated in Russia, and the existing clinical guidelines meet all the requirements. Awareness of the diagnosis and the fight against this disease are directly related to an increase in life expectancy.
Cardiologist, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of Volgograd State Medical University Yuri Lopatin spoke on April 20 about the dangers of asymptomatic coronary heart disease. Risk factors include high cholesterol, smoking, low physical activity, and stress.
