The State Duma named the category of citizens eligible for a new tax payment

Both working parents are eligible to receive a new annual family tax payment. This was announced on April 25 by State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev.

The support measure is intended for families with two or more children under the age of 18 or under the age of 23, if the child is studying full-time at a university.

Families whose average per capita income does not exceed 1.5 of the regional subsistence level will be able to take advantage of the benefit. According to the parliamentarian, parents have the right to apply at the same time, even if they live separately. In this case, each of them will receive an individually calculated amount.

"Many people think that the payment is one per family. No. If both parents work, everyone gets their refund in proportion to how much taxes they have paid. If you have earned more than your spouse, and you will have a larger refund amount. This is fair," RIA Novosti quoted Svishchev as saying.

The refund amount is defined as the difference between the standard personal income tax rate of 13% and the preferential rate of 6%. To calculate the annual income from which the tax is paid, it is multiplied by 7%.

"Example: if you earned 600 thousand rubles in a year, 78 thousand rubles of tax were withheld from them. At a preferential rate, the tax would amount to 36 thousand rubles. The difference is 42 thousand rubles. That's how much the state will return to your account," the deputy explained.

On April 23, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova announced during the annual All-Russian conference "Demographic Turning Point in Russia: Ways to Achieve" that the new family tax payment in Russia would cover more than 4 million families raising about 11 million children.
