The expert named the raw materials produced only in Russia
Russia is the only country in the world where baddeleyite concentrate is produced, which is indispensable in high-temperature technologies. This was announced on April 25 by Antonina Levashenko, head of the laboratory for the analysis of the best international practices at the Gaidar Institute.
"The only country in the world where baddeleyite concentrate is produced, which is indispensable in high-temperature technologies, is Russia. Only here it is extracted as a by—product during the processing of zirconium ores," she told RIA Novosti.
Levashenko noted that in other countries, only zirconium concentrates are produced when processing ores from zirconium deposits.
According to her, the unique concentrate is produced only at one enterprise in Russia. It is used in the manufacture of refractory materials as protective structures, as well as for ceramics and foundry production.
The expert added that due to its uniqueness and narrow specialization, the price of this concentrate does not depend on fluctuations in global markets. It is usually three times higher than the cost of premium zirconium concentrate, which costs more than $2.4 thousand per ton on the spot market.
Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, said on April 24 that Russia is one of the four countries in the world capable of independently providing a full cycle of production of turbojet engines. Kovalchuk stressed that Russia is currently in a situation where import substitution in the aviation sector has been largely completed, which has become possible thanks to the decisions of the president and the work of the government.
