Macron called Washington an unreliable ally
French President Emmanuel Macron said on April 24 in Athens during a discussion organized by the Kathimerini newspaper that the United States is an unreliable ally.
"The United States may be allies for some countries, but this ally is no longer so stable," he said.
In addition, according to the French leader, the European Union (EU) is a "stable and trustworthy" partner.
Macron also said that he considers American leader Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to be opponents of Europe.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed doubts on April 24 that the United States would come to the aid of his country or any other European state in the event of a military attack. Tusk stressed that the relevance of collective security mechanisms raises questions for him in the current conditions.
