On the issue of lowering the key interest rate, the Kremlin is guided by the position of the Bank of Russia. This was announced on April 24 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering a question from journalist Alexander Yunashev.

"This is the decision of our mega-regulator, this is their authority, their prerogative. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the point of view of the Central Bank," Peskov said in a video posted on the journalist's Telegram channel.

Peskov also recalled that the president had repeatedly said this in his public speeches.

On the same day, the Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, predicted a return of inflation to 4%. The head of the Central Bank noted that the current situation is due to overheating of demand in previous periods, the consequences of which are reflected in increased inflation expectations.
