The expert spoke about the future of the Russian language in Ukraine
A specific bilingual environment has been formed in Ukraine. Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries, told Izvestia about this.
"The MOU is spoken by officials, many use it at work, in some formal situations, when contacting civil servants. Russian remains the language of interpersonal communication that people use in their family, with friends, with relatives and relatives," he explained.
At the same time, Russian is often simply impossible to replace, the expert added. According to him, there are not enough films, songs, and literature in Ukrainian, for example. Therefore, the Russian language is "objectively ahead."
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, Tatiana Berezhnaya, noted that about 71% of Ukrainian citizens regularly consume content in Russian. The official said that almost 25% of respondents do this every day.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced the growing popularity of the Russian language in Ukraine on April 23. According to her, numerous bans have the opposite effect, because "it is impossible to barbarously cancel what has been created in a civilizational and civilized manner."
