Cash will remain in circulation with the introduction of the digital ruble into the economy. This was announced on April 24 by the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina.

"Cash doesn't go anywhere and it will stay. Well, the digital ruble, it will also very gradually enter our everyday life," Nabiullina said.

According to her, the Central Bank does not plan to accelerate the mass introduction of the digital ruble, but will refine it so that "people choose it themselves." She also noted that the share of cash in the money supply remains at a minimum despite the fact that demand for it in Russia increased at the beginning of the year.

On April 22, Olga Kushnareva, a family psychologist and psychotherapist, told Izvestia that choosing cash is not only related to anxiety, but also to habits, life experience, and a sense of control over expenses. When using cash, a person keeps better track of their expenses, because they see the real amount of money and feel the moment of spending.
