- Likhachev reported an increase in the number of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the nuclear power plant
In the area of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), the number of strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is increasing, the purpose of which is to sow panic and disorientation of personnel. This was announced on April 24 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation.
"The number of drone strikes, shelling, and mortar attacks is increasing. There is only one goal — to sow panic and disorient staff," Likhachev said in an interview with Strana Rosatom.
He noted that over the past week, the satellite city of the Energodar station has repeatedly been left without electricity and water supply. According to the head of Rosatom, despite the station's protection from airplanes and drones, the NPP is still vulnerable to heavy weapons.
"Therefore, we constantly call on the international community, the IAEA, to avoid any risks," Likhachev added.
The mayor of Energodar, Maxim Pukhov, announced on April 22 that the water supply system in the satellite city of the Zaporizhia NPP was de-energized due to an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A day later, Pukhov reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had dealt a new blow to the Energy Depot, as a result of which fire equipment was damaged. According to him, the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was not injured.
