- The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Japan to abandon the course of accelerated remilitarization
Moscow urges Tokyo to abandon the course of accelerated remilitarization. This was stated on April 24 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing in Izhevsk.
"We once again call on the Japanese government to fully recognize the results of World War II and abandon its policy of accelerating remilitarization. She has already brought sorrow and suffering to the peoples of Asia once," Zakharova said.
The diplomat added that Russia is monitoring the liberalization of exports of weapons and military products in Japan. At the same time, the Japanese government, through diplomatic channels, assured the Russian side of the impossibility of supplying weapons and dual-use products to armed conflict zones, including Ukraine, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
On April 21, Secretary General of the Japanese Cabinet Minoru Kihara announced that the Japanese government had officially approved a decision to review three principles for the transfer of defense equipment. These changes actually lift the previously existing restrictions on the export of weapons, including lethal weapons.
KCNA reported on January 11 that the Japanese authorities were embarking on the path of militarization of the country, which could lead to the "complete destruction" of Japan.
