Sobyanin spoke about the contribution of electric buses to the ecology of Moscow
The replacement of buses with electric buses on passenger routes in the capital has avoided the release of approximately 1,300 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told about this in his channel in the MAX messenger.
Electric buses have been involved in Moscow passenger transportation since 2018, the mayor of the capital said. This is the most modern high-tech equipment in Russia and Europe, which helps to improve the environmental situation in the city and ensures maximum comfort for passengers. Thanks to the use of electric buses in Moscow, it was possible not only to reduce the amount of pollutants in the air, but also to reduce the noise level on the streets of the city. In 2025 alone, thanks to electric buses, emissions of 380 tons of air pollutants and approximately 110 thousand tons of carbon dioxide equivalent were prevented.
To date, 280 electric bus routes operate in Moscow, and almost 3,000 units of eco-friendly equipment are used on them. On working days, Muscovites make more than 1.2 million electric bus trips. 12 Mosgortrans platforms provide control over the technical condition of electric buses.
The capital will continue to expand the use of electric buses on the streets of the city. According to the plans, by 2030, 5,900 modern and comfortable cars will be used in the city, which will make up about 70% of the total volume of the Mosgortrans fleet.
