The European Union (EU) has imposed sanctions against 20 Russian banks. This was reported on the website of the European Council on April 23.
"The EU imposes a ban on transactions with 20 Russian banks," the document says.
It is noted that restrictions on financial institutions will begin to take effect on May 14 of this year. In addition, a ban was approved on transactions with four financial institutions in "third countries" for circumventing European sanctions or for connecting to the Russian financial messaging system.
On April 23, the EU finally approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. The EU Council was given the opportunity to impose a complete ban on the maritime transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products. Transactions with 20 Russian banks are also subject to restrictions.
