On April 23, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, commenting on the possibility of resuming Russian gas supplies to Europe via the Nord Stream gas pipelines, said that one of the pipeline branches was damaged, while the other was in working condition and ready for gas transportation.

"One Nord Stream is broken, the second is ready for delivery," TASS quoted him as saying.

Peskov added that the prospects for resuming supplies via Nord Streams seem unlikely, given the bans imposed by the European side.

On March 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled that Washington had sought Europe's rejection of gas through the Nord Stream pipelines, as a result of which Germany, according to the minister, was "humiliated." Now, according to Lavrov, Hungary and Slovakia are trying to maintain access to cheap energy, but they are being forced to buy twice as much under the pretext of "punishing" Russia.
