UK releases Eksmo's top managers under the obligation to appear without charges
The Investigative Committee (IC) released under an obligation to appear after questioning the top managers of the Eksmo publishing house, who were detained in the case of LGBT propaganda (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) . This was reported by law enforcement agencies on April 23.
It is specified that among those released are the general director of the publishing house, Evgeny Kapyev, and the deputy editor—in-chief for literature, Yulia Sokolovskaya.
"After conducting investigative actions as part of the investigation of the criminal case, four employees of the publishing house were released under the obligation to appear," TASS quoted the law enforcement officers as saying.
According to law enforcement agencies, the top managers will have to come back to the investigators for questioning on Friday, April 24. Those released still have no status.
Evgeny Kapyev, CEO of Eksmo publishing house, was detained on April 21 in connection with LGBT propaganda (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). In Moscow, law enforcement officers searched the management of the Eksmo-AST publishing group. A criminal case has been opened under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of the activities of an extremist organization").
Izvestia found out that the holding's management had developed a scheme to distribute books promoting LGBT among minors. We are talking about the novels "Summer in a Pioneer tie" and "What the Swallow is silent about" by Elena Prokasheva (pseudonym — Elena Malisova, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) and Ekaterina Dudko (pseudonym — Katerina Silvanova, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent). There are other works involved in the case.
