A court has sentenced a resident of the Mikhailovsky district of the Zaporizhia region to 14 years in a general regime penal colony in a case of high treason. This was announced on April 23 by the press service of the Zaporizhia Regional Court.

"The pensioner purchased 102 military bonds of Ukraine for a total amount of 270,080 rubles. Thus, she provided financial assistance to the armed forces of a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation," the court said in a Telegram channel message.

It follows from the court's report that a Russian citizen born in 1960 installed a Ukrainian mobile application on her smartphone and provided financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from October 2023 to June 2024. According to Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "high treason," the convict was sentenced to 14 years in prison to serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony and further restriction of liberty for one year.

On April 22, the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory announced the verdict in the treason case against a resident of Volgodonsk who collected information for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The person involved, as specified, collected data for the Ukrainian side on those fuel and energy complex facilities that were based in Krasnodar. For this, he was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison to be served in a high-security penal colony, followed by another year of imprisonment.
