- Galstanyan, the leader of the "Holy Struggle", was arrested in Armenia for two more months.
On April 23, a court in Armenia decided to extend for another two months the detention of the leader of the "Holy Struggle" movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who is accused of organizing terrorist attacks and attempting to violently overthrow the constitutional order.
When announcing the verdict, the judge pointed out that the previously identified risks to the investigation have not disappeared anywhere — we are talking about possible pressure on the process and the potential preparation of new crimes.
"The conditions of legality have not changed, and alternative preventive measures are not able to ensure proper behavior, and therefore the preventive measure will be extended for two months," the judge announced, broadcasting the "Holy Struggle" on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
In June last year, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the opposition Holy Struggle party, and 14 other supporters were detained in Armenia in a criminal case of an "attempt to seize power." On June 26, Galstanyan was arrested for two months.
