Izvestia — about what to watch at the cinema next weekend.

Kommersant, 18+

Directed by Fyodor Kravchuk and Nikita Kravchuk. Starring: Alexander Petrov, Elizaveta Bazykina, Mikhail Troinik, Nikita Pavlenko, Husky

A crime drama based on real events of the 90s with the star of "The Combination" Elizaveta Bazykina and Alexander Petrov. The film became the debut full-length and the thesis of one of the Kravchuk brothers, graduates of VGIK. The screenplay is based on Andrey Rubanov's best-selling autobiographical novel of the same name, Plant and It Will Grow.

At the center of the story is a successful banker, Andrei, who, in pursuit of easy money, finds himself embroiled in a large—scale fraudulent financial scheme. For this, he goes to jail and spends several years in the "Sailor's Silence." After going through the harsh trials of prison life, the hero is released by a completely different person, whose values and views on life have changed dramatically.

"Angels of Ladoga", 12+

Directed by Alexander Kott. Starring: Tikhon Zhiznevsky, Roman Evdokimov, Ksenia Traister, Viktor Dobronravov, Polina Agureeva, Evgeny Sidikhin

Alexander Kott, famous for the film "Brest Fortress", once again turns to the topic of the Great Patriotic War. This time he presented the large-scale historical drama "Angels of Ladoga" with the star of "Major Thunder" Tikhon Zhiznevsky. The film opened the 48th Moscow International Film Festival.

The film is dedicated to a heroic and little-known episode of the first winter of the siege of 1941, when boer sailors stood up to defend besieged Leningrad. Former sailing rivals team up to deliver ammunition across the thin ice of Ladoga. During the mission, they discover an orphanage cut off from the world and decide to save the orphans at all costs. The deadly danger forces the heroes to forget about past grievances and become a united team, where the success of an almost impossible task depends on everyone. The film combines dynamic action, psychological drama and precision in detail — the creators relied on archival materials from the Museum of the Siege of Leningrad.

"The Adventures of the Yellow Briefcase", 6+

Directed by Denis Gulyar. Starring: Pavel Priluchny, Lyudmila Artemyeva, Oleg Komarov, Alexander Yatsko, Nikita Tarasov, Yanina Studilina

A modern film adaptation of the story by Sofia Prokofieva. Although the film is filled with homages to the 1970 film, director Denis Gulyar, known for the Manyunya franchise, shifted the focus to dynamics and special effects. Spectacular elements were woven into the plot to attract a young audience: motorcycle racing, skydiving and boat chases. The painting became a tribute to the memory of Sofia Prokofieva herself, who died in May 2025 at the age of 96.

The main character is a boy named Petya, a typical "stay—at-home" of our time, who is afraid of the real world and any social interaction. To help his son overcome his phobias, his parents bring him to an unusual doctor. He "treats" psychological problems with sweets: sweets for courage and powders against fear. However, due to a ridiculous accident, a yellow suitcase with miracle medicines turns out to be in the possession of strangers, which provokes a chain of dangerous and curious events.

Parental Home, 12+

Director: Max Maksimov, Anna Gert. Starring: Polina Maksimova, Roman Kurtsyn, Wolfgang Czerny, Sofia Petrova, Alexandra Beloglazova

A touching family comedy co-produced by Russia and Belarus with Roman Kurtsin and Polina Maksimova, known to viewers from the series "Deffchonki". The story tells about flight attendant Dasha, who returns to her native village to sell her grandmother's house and close debts in the city. There Dasha meets her first love, the charming cheese maker Misha, who, together with his restless nephew Petrovich, turns attempts to sell the house into a series of ridiculous and ridiculous trials. Under the wrapper of light humor and funny situations, there is a deep thought about the "place of power" and that the most important things — childhood memories, the warmth of native walls and sincere feelings — cannot be measured in square meters or a career.

"Black Courtyard in the cinema", 18+

Directed by Daniyar Bolotbekov. Starring: Ruzil Minekaev, Rauan Akhmedov, Aybar Saly, Damir Amangeldin, Akzhol Primbetov

A full-length sequel to the popular Kyrgyz-Kazakh crime series "Black Yard" with the star "Words of a kid. Blood on the asphalt" by Ruzil Minekaev. The drama is based on the true story of juvenile delinquency among Kyrgyz schoolchildren.

The plot of the film takes place several years after the events of the series. The fly, trapped behind bars, reaches the point of no return and decides on a desperate and daring escape, realizing that only slow extinction awaits him in prison. Ironically, Bob works in the same colony as a supervisor, who chose the path of the law, but could not completely break with the past. When their paths cross within the walls of a correctional facility, an acute psychological and ethical conflict breaks out between the old friends: Bob has to decide whether he is ready to risk his career and freedom, while Mucha is forced to test the very devotion they shouted about in the "black yard" of their childhood.
