In Blagoveshchensk, a foreign citizen was detained who tried to take gold abroad by hiding it in his shoes. The Blagoveshchensk Transport Prosecutor's Office will control the investigation of the gold smuggling case. The article is "Smuggling of strategically important goods and resources."

PriamurMedia news agency, referring to the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office, writes that in April of this year, a foreigner was detained at the Blagoveshchensk checkpoint who tried to illegally export more than 200 grams of gold. To do this, he hid the precious metal in his shoes. The cost of the cargo turned out to be more than 2.5 million rubles.

The press service of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) clarified that the man was traveling to Heihe (China). During customs control on the passenger route, the inspector drew attention to the reaction of the metal detector when examining the sneakers of one of the tourists. It turned out that there was a scrap of jewelry made of precious metals under the insoles.

According to the detainee, a stranger asked him to transport the alloy across the border for a monetary reward.

The accused was given a preventive measure in the form of detention until May 20.
