There have been 215 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 215 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 15 people were killed and 256 injured. 13 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 26 road users needed medical help. 10 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
As a result of 59 accidents, 30 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 29 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, 58 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 13 underage pedestrians, six of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.
There were also 33 accidents involving minors, in which 37 young road users were injured, including 13 passengers, 10 child drivers, six of whom were driving motor vehicles. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting driving without license and driving skills. The lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children and adolescents, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department said. Administrative responsibility is provided for providing the opportunity to operate a vehicle to minors who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.
"We remind you that minors can drive mopeds and motorcycles on public roads no earlier than the age of 16 after completing training and obtaining a driver's license. Cross—country motorcycles and pitbikes, which are sports equipment, should be used only on specialized tracks and only for motorsport, including for young athletes. On ordinary roads, as well as in populated areas, movement with their help is strictly prohibited," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Valery Goryukhanov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Transport Infrastructure Development, said on April 3 that the experience of some regions banning the sale of gasoline to children could be extended to the whole of Russia. The parliamentarian noted that in a number of Russian regions such restrictions were introduced to combat the riding of minors on pit bikes on the roads.
