Caring for veterans of the Great Patriotic War is the main priority of the capital, stressed Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. He spoke about measures to support veterans in his channel in the MAX messenger.

Sanatorium treatment is provided to veterans in the capital, as well as the Sanatorium at Home program from the Moscow House of Veterans of Wars and the Armed Forces, Sobyanin recalled. Last year, more than 5,000 people took part in it. In addition, the "Alarm Button" system is working: veterans are provided with mobile phones for round-the-clock communication with dispatchers, who, if necessary, organize emergency assistance.

There is a nursing service at the Moscow House of Veterans of Wars and the Armed Forces. Professional staff provide care from 8 to 10 hours a day — they help with the purchase of groceries and medicines, prepare meals. In 2025, about 1.5 thousand people received monthly caregivers' help, Sobyanin said.

Veterans can also receive round-the-clock care in gerontology centers, where conditions are close to home conditions. Specialists help to maintain health and organize leisure activities for the wards, the head of the capital noted.

In addition, veterans are paid one-time financial assistance. Last year, about 30 thousand people received it in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the mayor recalled. This year, about 23,000 Muscovites will receive similar assistance. The amount of payments will range from 25 thousand to 70 thousand rubles, depending on the category.
