- Customs officers stopped the smuggling of 14.5 kg of hashish from Belarus to Russia
The Main Directorate for Combating Smuggling of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia, together with the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation and the Main Customs Committee (SCC) of the Republic of Belarus, in cooperation with the Central Operational Customs, stopped the channel of hashish smuggling from Belarus to Russia. This was announced on April 23 by the head of the press service of the Central Customs Administration of Russia, Yana Nagibina.
During the operational search activities, representatives of the above-mentioned services established that a truck had arrived at one of the uninhabited premises located in the Leningrad Region. Cans of paint were transported in his cabin, and 150 dark brown tiles were found in six of them.
Subsequently, the results of the examination confirmed that the discovered objects were a batch of hashish weighing 14.5 kg. The potential price of such a product on the black market, according to preliminary data, exceeds 43.5 million rubles.
A member of the criminal group was identified, who turned out to be a 40-year-old Russian who acted on the instructions of the curator. The man had to control the delivery of goods with a prohibited substance for further sale in the country.
A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with clauses "a" and "b" of Part 4 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of narcotic drugs committed by an organized group on an especially large scale"). The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment.
On January 13, the FSB of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) announced the suppression of the actions of members of a criminal group who were engaged in drug distribution. Thus, in the places where the defendants in the criminal cases initiated in accordance with Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime" and "Illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs") lived, over 50 kg of synthetic drugs were detected.
The individuals in question, acting on the orders of curators based in Ukraine, tried to promote dependence on these substances among the younger generation. A total of 25 Russians were detained.
