Sevastopol resident sentenced to 5.5 years for calling for terrorist attacks on the Internet

A resident of Sevastopol was sentenced to 5.5 years for posting online calls for terrorist attacks on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and the murder of political figures. This was announced on April 23 by the press service of the regional directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation.

So, it was established that a man born in 1976, using two accounts in the Telegram messenger, published comments there, where he tried to encourage users to commit destructive actions against the infrastructure of the republic.

In addition, he called for the murders of politicians and a number of people based on nationality. A criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities committed using the Internet information and telecommunications network).

"The Southern District Military Court (the city of Rostov-on-Don) found the defendant guilty of the alleged crimes and sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months of general regime imprisonment," the statement said.

On April 15, representatives of the press service of the Russian FSB directorate for the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said that Alexander Burkov, a resident of Makeyevka, was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony for publicly calling for extremism and terrorism. The attacker left comments calling for missile strikes against the Russian Federation and violent acts against its inhabitants.
