- The media reported that the Pentagon had underestimated the number of military deaths in the Middle East.
The Pentagon underestimates the number of American soldiers killed during the operation against Iran. This was reported on April 22 by The Intercept portal, citing sources.
"In the context of a fragile truce in the US war against Iran, the Pentagon is playing a numbers game using statistics of American casualties, adding and subtracting from the death toll as questions grow about the number of human casualties," the publication says.
It is specified that on the day of the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, the death toll was 385 people. Later, according to the portal, the death toll was 428 people. However, after a while the total number dropped to 413 without any comments from the Ministry of War.
The publication noted that the Pentagon did not respond to questions about the underestimation of the death toll. The portal's sources added that the response was not received due to the fact that there was no duty officer at the workplace who deals with such issues.
Earlier, on April 15, it was reported that the US Navy had officially recognized that an expensive unmanned aerial vehicle had been lost during operations in the Middle East. According to the military, the incident occurred on April 9, during which the MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone crashed.
