The forecaster estimated the probability of snow in Moscow for the May holidays
Residents of Moscow and the Moscow region should not be afraid of snowfall on the May holidays. Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia about this.
"The probability of such a scenario with snow is close to zero," the meteorologist replied to the relevant question.
According to his forecast, the May holidays in Central Russia will be dominated by moderately warm weather with a temperature of +10...+15 degrees Celsius.
"This is the most likely development of weather processes as of today," Shuvalov added, stressing that a more accurate forecast should be found out three days before the date of interest. In this case, it will be successful with a probability of 80%.
In general, the current spring in Russia with its "weather swings", according to Shuvalov, cannot be called abnormal. According to the meteorologist, it presents certain surprises, but they are "inherent in the spring season."
In April, snowfall covered Moscow and the Moscow region several times. Forecasters predict a significant deterioration in the weather in the coming days. On Thursday and Friday (April 23 and 24), cold showers are expected in the capital, turning into charges of wet snow, and wind may increase. Last year, May Day for residents of the capital region began with a record snowfall, when up to 70% of the monthly precipitation rate fell in two days.
