Experts named the most expensive foreign cars in the Russian Federation
According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, the highest average car maintenance bill in Russia was recorded for German-made models of brands such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The average cost was 48 thousand rubles. This is due to both the design features and the high cost of original spare parts, as well as their logistics. This was reported to Izvestia on April 22 by experts from the online platform Uremont.
American cars took the second place in terms of the high cost of maintenance after German cars. The average check for them ranged from 30 to 40 thousand rubles. The high cost and price range are associated with the historically bulky internal combustion engines of such machines, which require more engine oil to be replaced according to the regulations, experts explained. The top three were rounded out by European brands such as Volvo, Skoda and Renault, with an average check of 25 thousand rubles. Experts noticed that Chinese brands were not included in the rating.
The analysis was based on data processed by the aggregator's AI assistant in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Krasnodar and five other cities. The calculation of the average cost includes work at the average service rate, as well as prices for consumables — oil, cabin and oil filters.
"The cost of owning a car in Russia today, more than ever before, has begun to add up not only from the initial price of spare parts, but also from the availability of service, logistics and the predictability of breakdowns. Current car owners are increasingly choosing a car based on calculating future costs. They want to clearly represent the current market value of all repair and maintenance work," said Artur Terisayan, founder of Uremont, Moscow's public business ombudsman for Transport.
Earlier, on March 20, it was reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia proposed to introduce mandatory labeling of auto parts, the corresponding draft resolution is posted on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts. The project provides for the phased introduction of mandatory labeling of certain types of vehicle components, devices with an internal combustion engine and self-propelled vehicles from September 1 of this year.
