An armed vessel of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) approached the container ship in the Gulf of Hormuz, after which it attacked the ship without attempting to establish communication. This was announced on April 22 by the UKMTO Maritime Transportation Coordination Center at the British Navy.

"The UKMTO received a report of an incident 15 nautical miles (about 27.78 km) away. — Ed.) northeast of Oman. The captain of the container ship reported that one IRGC boat approached the vessel, which did not negotiate by radio, and then opened fire on the vessel, causing serious damage to the bridge," the UKMTO website said.

They reported that there were no fires or negative effects on the environment, and all crew members were unharmed and safe.

On April 20, the Turkish Anadolu agency reported an attack on the French container ship Everglade, owned by the shipping company CMA CGM, which was damaged while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agency, all crew members are safe, no one was injured. The vessel remains in working condition, only individual containers have been damaged.

On April 18, Reuters reported, citing sources in the field of maritime security and navigation, that at least two merchant ships were fired upon while trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz. According to the newspaper, commercial vessels received a radio message from the Iranian Navy, in which they were not allowed to pass through the strait.
