Europe is holding back its development due to systematic mistakes and decisions dictated by ideology. This was announced on April 21 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.

"Reforms should include the recognition and correction of numerous mistakes in migration policy, war-mongering policy, energy and economic policy," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

This is how he commented on a Facebook post that quoted German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as saying that it was time for Europeans to get rid of everything that was slowing them down. According to the German politician, the main factors hindering development are high salaries, expensive energy resources, taxes and social contributions.

German journalist Wolfgang Munchau reported on April 11 that the energy crisis in Europe may lead to a desire to restore purchases of Russian energy resources. According to him, the complete abandonment of Russian gas, nuclear energy and the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz could lead to "absolutely devastating" consequences for the European economy.
