Kallas announced the decision to ban entry to the EU for its veterans from Russia
At the summit in Luxembourg, the foreign ministers of the European Union decided to ban all Russian veterans of the special military operation in Ukraine from entering the EU. This was announced by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, on April 21 following the meeting.
"By the June meeting of the European Council, we will come up with proposals to restrict entry to the European Union for former Russian combatants," Kallas said.
She also added that the EU has already provided training for 90,000 soldiers for Kiev.
On March 14, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the leaders of seven other EU states demanded to study the possibility of a ban on entry into the Schengen area for participants in Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. In a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, the politicians drew attention to the fact that the possible stay of the participants in their activities in the EU allegedly poses significant risks to internal security.
