Moldova's rhetoric towards Transnistria increasingly resembles the statements of the Ukrainian authorities regarding Donbass after 2014. This was announced on April 21 by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.

"It is also alarming that the Moldovan leadership's rhetoric towards Transnistria increasingly resembles the statements of the Ukrainian authorities regarding Donbass after 2014," he said in an interview. kp.ru .

Shoigu noted that the Moldovan government supplies Pridnestrovie with exactly as much gas as is necessary to meet social needs, and tries to charge a huge fee for the rest. In addition, because of this attitude, the government practically stopped the operation of the Moldavian GRES, which also supplied electricity to the region. Shoigu notes that this harms all citizens of the country, because fuel is supplied from Romania, which significantly affects the price increase.

The Secretary of the Security Council added that, in addition, Moldova has imposed restrictions on freedom of movement, illegal customs duties, arbitrarily deprives of citizenship, and also plans to create trade, banking and transport barriers.

Shoigu stressed that, despite the opposition of Chisinau, Russia provides economic, financial, humanitarian and other assistance to Transnistria. He noted that almost 43,000 pensioners there receive a Russian pension.

On April 17, Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu announced that the command of the Operational Group of Russian Troops in Transnistria had been declared undesirable persons on the territory of the republic. The speaker of the parliament also stated that the reason for this decision was that the Russian Army was allegedly illegally located on the territory of Moldova. He stressed that as soon as these individuals enter the territory controlled by the official Chisinau, they will be "sent home."

On April 8, Moldovan President Maia Sandu signed decrees denouncing the founding agreements with the CIS countries. As a result, she terminated two agreements — on the establishment of the CIS and its protocol, as well as on the charter of the Commonwealth.
