- The Russian Ambassador to Germany pointed to the militarization of Western Europe that hinders dialogue.
Western Europe's policy of militarization is counterproductive and does not contribute to the movement towards dialogue. This was announced on April 21 by Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergey Nechaev.
"Western Europe's course towards militarization is completely counterproductive and there is absolutely no positive movement towards dialogue," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that Russia continues to advocate dialogue and does not intend to abandon it, but "we will not impose ourselves."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that statements about joint nuclear exercises by French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk demonstrate Europe's path to militarization. He also stated that conducting nuclear exercises does not contribute to stability and predictability on the European continent.
Earlier, on April 19, the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Europe was militarizing relations with Russia amid economic problems. The article noted that years of strategic dependence on the United States and the inability to defend their own principles had destroyed European dreams of peace and unity and exacerbated economic problems.
