Ophthalmologist Anton Kazantsev told on Tuesday, April 21, which products will really support vision after the winter, and also named things that absolutely should not be done with an infection.

"When we scratch our eyes or even our eyelids, we injure the skin or cornea. Microtrauma becomes an entrance gate for infection, which leads to barley, keratitis and other complications. It is necessary to use wet antibacterial wipes after public transport before touching your face," he said in an interview with Radio 1.

The specialist noted that it is impossible to do with microtrauma: warm the eye — no warm compresses; rub the eyelids; use folk remedies — no aloe juice, no tea leaves, no plantain; make bandages and compresses from cloth; wear contact lenses during any eye disease.

In addition, the ophthalmologist noted that visual impairment occurs only with a very long winter vitamin deficiency, but it is worth supporting the eyes.

"Spinach, dark green leafy vegetables, arugula, parsley, dill are all sources of lutein. Yellow and orange fruits — carrots, pumpkins, sweet peppers — contain beta-carotene," he said.

Kazantsev warned on April 17 that using gadgets in the evening poses a risk of damage to the retina, RT reports.

The specialist explained that focusing on small text causes a spasm of accommodation, and a decrease in the frequency of blinking by 60-70% leads to dry eye syndrome, writes Life.Ru .

Earlier, on April 17, Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood of the Russian State Medical University, ophthalmologist, PhD Tatiana Pavlova told how to maintain eye health.

The expert recommended humidifying the air, especially during the heating season, when it gets dry. According to her, when working with gadgets, the natural process of blinking is disrupted, so it is important to consciously pause and blink more often. She also noted the popular 20-20-20 rule: after 20 minutes of visual activity, you should take a break and look into the distance for about 6 m.

Earlier, in January, ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon Svetlana Mirgorodskaya reported that the use of soft contact lenses in frosty weather, including severe cold, is safe if a number of recommendations are followed.
